I like the ink system on the Canon MX870. It has a 5-color ink system of four dye based inks plus a pigment based black ink. It actually produces text that looks like it came off a laser printer. With this kind of ink system, you only have to replace the one color of ink that runs out. This can save you LOTS of money since your not wasting extra ink.
